This man, to whom one commonly would give that title to, is a historical character. He most likely lived between the 6th and 7th century B.C. in the North of India and his name before his epiphany has been Siddhartha Gautama. His of himself bared lesson (Dharma), which developed further over the centuries, as well as the monk order he founded are still continuing up to today. Due to the frequent activities of the Tibetian Lamas in the past years they are also present in the West.
